Spooky Classroom Fun!

We've been setting the mood for Halloween! We started by making tombstones for "dead words". After we put the "dead words" to rest, we found WOW words to use instead. Our 4th grade buddies from Mrs. Cangany's class helped us with this project!

Next we did lots of Spider research! We learned about arachnids as a whole class. Then each student chose a type of spider to research and write about. Each student also created a page about spiders to put in our class book.

Next we learned about bats! We created a pictograph to show our class's opinion about bats. Students each picked a type of bat to research and write about. They also worked in small groups to show the wingspan of various bats. The biggest bat is the Flying Fox bat with a wingspan of 6 feet or more. The smallest bat in the world is called the Bumblebee Bat. Its wingspan is only 2 inches!

This week is Red Ribbon Week. All classes are competing to win the door decorating contest. Here is our door!

Before Fall Break, we learned about fire safety. A firefighter came to our school to talk to us and show us some of her gear. Delaney was picked to try on the outfit!

Have a safe and happy Halloween!
